To provide greater patient flexibility and independence, remote health monitoring systems allow physicians to gain vital information related to their patient’s health at a moments notice. The development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has allowed for the creation of smaller, remotely connected monitoring systems. Using IoT devices, this project aims to provide a remote system for detecting and informing physicians about patient falls. In addition, the system should be able to record additional health information for use by the medical professional. The system is divided into two parts, a fall detection system and a heart rate and temperature system. Each system works concurrently with the other to deliver information to a centralized node. From there, the system can analyze the patient’s health status and give updates directly to medical professionals through a text messaging system along with a database and web-application for storage and data visualization.
