Our goal with this project is to create a flexible home automation system from scratch, with a Zigbee network of HADP-enabled devices. To control these devices, the user can use the voice recognition capabilities of Amazon Alexa, or use a custom-made Android App. Using this App, it is also possible to define rules for automation, and have a completely intelligent home.
The Home Automation Device Protocol allows the home automation devices in the home to communicate with a central node, the Coordinator. Each HADP device has ‘triggers’ (sensors) and/or ‘actions’ (actuators) that are used for automation. The user-defined automated systems follow rules called ‘recipes’ working with a If This Then That logic. The Coordinator is also charged of logging all the data into our SQL database for monitoring.
