Abstract

The exponential increase of our life expectancy, achieved by the advancements on Medicine and Technology, has brought great challenges to physicians, engineers, and researchers due to the health problems commons in elderly people. Thus, this summer project proposes a reliable, low-cost, low power consuming, and flexible wireless body sensor network (WBSN) based on Zigbee protocol for Fall Detection Systems. In order to provide a way to constantly monitor the health of the patient, while having no impact on his/her life, we implemented a wearable device that is able to track the position of the user’s body and detect a fall. Furthermore, the wireless sensor network was developed in such a way that it communicates with the user’s mobile phone in order to provide a user-friendly manner of displaying his/her status. In addition, the fashion that was adopted here allows the professional public to make their contributions as well as use it for different applications.
